We are ‘Tano’

Tano is a consortium of the UK’s five African film festivals – Africa in Motion (Edinburgh/Glasgow), Afrika Eye Festival of Film, Arts and Culture (Bristol), The Cambridge Film Festival, Film Africa (London) and Watch Africa (Wales). We are teaming up online for the first time this October to present a free-to-view showcase of some of the best examples of African cinema from the past ten years.

Under the banner ‘We are Tano’ (‘tano’ being the Swahili word for five) each festival will feature two of their favourite feature or documentary films from the past 10 years.

We hope you’ll join us for this special opportunity to view some of the remarkable and ground breaking films coming from the continent of Africa. Details of programme dates and times to follow.

WE ARE TANO will start streaming on Thursday, 1stOctober, at 6PM GMT. Each film will be available for 48 consecutive hours and may be viewed as many times as you wish, alone or with family/friends.

Films will be free to watch, but we encourage donations. All proceeds from audience donations will go towards supporting the filmmakers and the TANO festivals.
